The musician was found unconscious at his Rochester, Minnesota residence on August 11 and his death was later confirmed, according to the singer’s family, who revealed Tuesday.

Who was Darius Campbell?


Darius Campbell was a world-renowned Scottish-born singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and film producer. He was in news recently as he passed away suddenly at the age of 40.

His full name was Darius Campbell Danesh. Darius Campbell was born on 19 August 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland. His mother is Avril Campbell, who was of Scottish descent and his father is Booth Danesh who was of Iranian descent. Thus Campbell was a Scottish and Iranian mixed child. His family lives in Bearsden. He has three siblings and was the eldest of three boys. His younger brothers Cyrus and Aria were born in 1995 and 1983 respectively.

He attended Bearsden Primary School and Glasgow Academy. He later enrolled at the University of Edinburgh where he studied English Literature and Philosophy.

 Campbell married the beautiful Canadian Natasha Henstridge (Canadian actress) in February 2011. However, this relationship did not last long and the couple formally parted ways in July 2013. In February 2018, the divorce was finalized.

The moment of grief came when Campbell died suddenly on August 11, 2022, in Rochester, Minnesota. He was 1.93 meters tall. Campbell was 41 years old at the time of his death.

Darius Campbell’s professional career began in the 1990s in a cutting-edge Scottish opera production of “The Trojans”. After this, he did many commendable works in theater and opera.

Later, he made two studio albums named Darius, “Dive In” (2002) and “Live Twice” (2004). “Colorblind,” “Rush,” and “Incredible” (What I Mean To Say) are some of his famous debut songs.

In two performances of the musical on Chicago’s West End stage, Campbell played Billy Flynn. He originated the part of Rhett Butler in the production of Sir Trevor Nunn’s “Gone with the Wind” and portrayed the show’s star, Sky Masterson, in the Olivier Award-winning “Guys and Dolls”.


In 2010, he received vocal direction from tenor Rolando Villazón, won the ITV program “Popstar to Operastar” and sang a duet with Villazón on “The Impossible Dream”.

Darius Campbell’s operatic debut took place in “O2 Arena” with the Royal Philharmonic in Carmen, the largest opera production in the UK. He played Carmen’s boyfriend Escamillo at the age of 29. He also played a lead role in the touring production of “The History of the Big Bands”.
