According to officials, so far 1498 deaths have been confirmed in Turkey and thousands of people have been reported injured. At the same time, 810 people have died in Syria. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was about 33 kilometers (20 mi) from Gaziantep and about 26 kilometers (16 mi) from the city of Nurdagi. It was centered at a depth of 18 kilometers (11 mi). The Danish Geological Institute says that earthquake tremors in Turkey have been felt as far as Greenland.
The tremors were so strong that there is news of damage to many buildings.

Britain came forward to help
The UK government has announced aid for rescue efforts in the wake of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The British government has said it will immediately deploy an emergency response team to Turkey. The Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said it was deploying a team of search, rescue, and medical experts to help.
According to the information received, a team of aid teams is expected to leave Britain at 4 pm local time and reach the Turkish city of Gaziantep at 9 pm local time.
