Madhya Pradesh Municipal Election Phase 1 Result: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the winners, and thanked the voters after the BJP’s victory in five municipal corporations including Satna, Sagar, Khandwa, Ujjain, and Burhanpur. Out of the remaining three municipal corporations, BJP is leading in two including Bhopal and Indore, while Congress is leading in Gwalior. Congress has emerged victorious in Chhindwara and Jabalpur municipal corporations.

Days after Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s roadshow in Singrauli, the party’s mayoral candidate Rani Aggarwal won the second richest local body in the state in terms of revenue by defeating Chandra Pratap Vishwakarma of BJP in Singrauli Municipal Corporation. Won. 9,159 votes. Excited to celebrate Agarwal’s victory, Kejriwal said on Twitter that people everywhere are seeing AAP’s “honest politics”.

BJP won the municipal council elections, 71 out of 85 wards of Indore, 55 out of 85 wards of Bhopal, 39 out of 79 wards of Jabalpur, 35 out of 66 wards of Gwalior, 37 out of 54 wards of Ujjain 30 out of 50 wards in Khandwa, 40 out of 48 in Sagar, 24 out of 45 in Singrauli, and 24 out of 48 in Burhanpur. However, no party managed to secure a majority in Kamal Nath’s stronghold Chhindwara, with the BJP winning 15 and the Congress winning 16 of the 48 wards. Similarly, out of 45 wards of Satna, BJP has won 20 and Congress 19.

Earlier in the day, Indore Mayor candidate Sanjay Shukla sat on a dharna outside the Indore Stadium, claiming harassment at the hands of the local police and administration. He alleged that despite having valid passes, Congress workers were not being allowed to enter the stadium where the counting of votes was taking place.

The counting of votes for the first phase of municipal elections in Madhya Pradesh began at 9 am on Sunday. In the first phase, elections to 133 municipal bodies, including 11 municipal corporations, 36 municipal councils, and 86 city councils, were held on 6 July. In the first phase, the voter turnout was 61 percent. The counting of votes for the second phase of municipal elections will be held on July 20.
