  • Angelo Morionado first presented his invention at the General Expo in Turin in 1984, where he was awarded a bronze medal for this invention.
  • The patent was granted on 16 May 1884 under the title ‘New Steam Machinery for the Economic and Instant Confession of Coffee Drinks, Method A, Morionado’ for a period of six years.
  • The espresso coffee machine was actually designed by a mechanic named Martina working under the direct supervision of the inventor.
  • Section 34 was sequentially updated on 20 November 1884 with a patent under number 381.
  • The invention was ratified by international patent after Espresso was registered in Paris on 23 October 1885.
  • Later on, Morionado continued to improve the espresso coffee machine and patented each improvement.
  • Angelo Morionado never produced the invention on an industrial scale. They thought it better to make machines by hand and this was limited
  • The historian Ian Burston, who described the history of coffee, claimed that he was the first researcher to discover Moriondo’s patent.
