Saint Ravidasji was born on Magha Purnima in 1376 AD in Govardhanpur village located in Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Rahu and his mother’s name was Karma. His wife’s name is said to be Lona, he is known by many names like Sant Ravidas, Guru Ravidas, Raidas, Ruhidas, and Rohidas. It is said that the day Ravidas ji was born was a Sunday along with Magha Purnima, hence he was named Ravidas. He was a strong supporter of an egalitarian society.
