Vikram Gokhale was an Indian film and television actor, who has also worked as a theater artist and directed a few films. Vikram has acted in Hindi as well as Marathi films. He was born on 30 October 1947 in Pune (Maharashtra). Vikram Gokhale passed away at the age of 82 and breathed his last on 26 November 2022 at Deenanath Hospital, Pune.

Birth and early life of Vikram Gokhale

As you have already been told that Vikram was born on 30 October 1947. Father’s name was Chandrakant Gokhale and mother’s name was Hemwati Gokhale. Apart from Vikram, he is survived by two brothers Bhishma Gokhale and Mohan Gokhale, and a sister Aprajita Munje.

His father was a noted Marathi film and theater artist and has acted in over 70 Marathi and Hindi films. Gokhale used to run a real estate firm named Sujata Firm in Pune.

It is also interesting to note that her great-grandmother, Durgabai Kamat, was the first female actress in Indian cinema, while her grandmother Kamlabai Gokhale (then Kamalabai Kamat) was the first female child artist in Indian cinema.

The film career of Vikram Gokhale

Vikram Gokhale has worked in theatre, television, Hindi, and Marathi films in his career. He has acted in more than 80 films and 17 television serials.

Undoubtedly, he is one of the most talented actors to have made a mark in the cinematic world. Hence, he is considered as the most popular and most loved actor in the film industry.

In 2010, he made his directorial debut – a Marathi film “Aaghat”, produced by Sprint Arts Creations in association with Rajesh Damble (Executive Producer). The film was written by Dr. Nitin Lavangare and starred Dr. Amol Kolhe, Mukta Barve, and others.

Apart from directing films, he is also good at acting and has worked in many films such as; “Tum Bin” released in 2001, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” (released in 1999), “And Madhoshi” released in 2004 some of his great movies.

Vikram Gokhale told an anecdote to (TOI) in an old interview, “When I entered the world of acting, I struggled a lot and faced a financial crisis. Then I also went through a financial crisis. I had to live in Mumbai. There was a need for a house. When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about my financial crunch and need, he himself wrote a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Joshi (the then of Maharashtra). Due to the recommendation of Amitabh Bachchan, I got a house on behalf of the Government of Maharashtra. Found a house. The letter which was written by Amitabh Bachchan is still preserved (framed) by him.”
