It all began when, on September 11, 2001, two planes struck the World Trade Center in New York, and a third plane crashed at the Pentagon outside Washington, DC, while the fourth went down in Pennsylvania.

who did this? Al-Qaeda, an Islamic extremist organization led by Osama bin Laden and known for its terror, hijacked four planes and used them as a means of suicide attacks in the United States. It was claimed that bin Laden had provided funds for the attack.

More than 3,000 people lost their lives and thousands were injured in this attack.

Here are some facts you should know about the 9/11 attack:


On December 4, 1998, the CIA informed President Clinton in its daily brief that bin Laden was preparing to hijack American aircraft and was planning an attack.

The World Trade Center was the first to be targeted. On February 26, 1993, a bomb was placed in a car parked in the World Trade Center, killing six people and injuring more than a thousand when it exploded. DNA reported that the Sunni terrorist, Ramzi Yousef, who disabled the device, revealed that he intended to kill more than 250,000 people.

The US made several attempts to kill Osama bin Laden before 9/11, but it was delayed and then revived, but hindered by military leaders’ reservations about relying on Afghan tribal chiefs.

The fire at Ground Zero lasted 99 days and was completely extinguished on December 19, 2001.

Christine Hanson, two, was the youngest passenger on the hijacked United Airlines Flight 172.

The US lost 343 firefighters to the New York City Fire Department, nearly half of the on-duty deaths in the department’s 100-year history.

On December 11, 2001, 48 countries organized celebrations in memory of the victims.

Two planes hit the famous World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City. The collapse of the building is believed to have been caused by damage to the Twin Towers. However, the structure collided with a third plane.
