Nellai Kannan was born on 17 January 1945 in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu to Subbaiah Pillai and Muthulakshmi. He completed his secondary education at Sri Manthiramurthy Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli. Suresh Kannan Nellai Kannan’s first son Suka is the co-director and writer. The second son Arumugam is also a presenter on New Delhi News TV. He has black colored hair and dark brown eyes. He belongs to Hinduism and caste details are unknown.
