 Phoolan Devi: Akhilesh Yadav pays tribute to former SP MP and bandit Sundari Phoolan, relationship with Mirzapur- Mirzapur. Phoolan Devi (10 August 1963 – 25 July 2001) became an MP from Dasyu Sundari. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav paid tribute to Phoolan Devi by tweeting on Monday. Actually, Phoolan Devi was elected MP twice from Mirzapur-Bhadohi. In the 1980s, Phoolan Devi’s name became more popular than Gabbar Singh of Sholay. Phoolan, who surrendered in 1983, remained in jail till 1994. After this SP fielded her from the Mirzapur-Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat and she won.

On 26 January 1996, the famous film Bandit Queen based on the biography of Phoolan was released and his real story came to the public. At that time there was no era of social media but people in villages used to watch Bandit Queen movies by putting a VCR on TV.

After this film, Phoolan started ruling the hearts of the people, and even after being an MP, he did many such things which people could not live without being influenced.

BJP candidate Virendra Singh Mast was once again defeated by one lakh votes.

In 1996, when Phoolan Devi became the candidate of the Samajwadi Party from Mirzapur-Bhadohi, the people here showed her the way to Parliament by giving her the gift of victory. In the 1999 elections also, the Samajwadi Party again declared him the candidate. During this, he again defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Virendra Singh Mast by about one lakh votes.
