Eknath Shinde was born on 9 February 1966 in Maharashtra. He belongs to Pahari Jawali taluka of Satara district and belongs to the Marathi community. He was educated in Thane till the age of eleven. After that, he lived in the Wagle Estate area and worked as a driver. Actually, Eknath Shinde started his political career at this time, because this time he joined the Shiv Sena government and started his political career as an ordinary worker.
Gradually Eknath Shinde became the most influential leader in the Thane district of Maharashtra. Eknath Shinde was elected councilor from the Thane Municipal Corporation in 1997 and was made the Leader of the Opposition in the Municipal Corporation Hall in 2001. In 2002, Eknath Shinde was re-elected as a corporation and became an MLA exactly two years later.
Eknath Shinde’s popularity increased after the death of veteran Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe in 2002 and Narayan Rane leaving the party in 2005. Eknath Shinde was seen as a great leader. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde have been seen together many times. Also, Eknath Shinde was continuously elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2014, 2009, 2014, and 2019. Thus Eknath Shinde’s journey from auto driver to MLA, the minister took place.

Although Eknath Shinde was a true Thanekar, he was not born in Thane. He was born on 4 February 1964 in Satara. The situation is similar for Shinde, who was born in a farmer’s family. After coming to Thane, he completed his schooling at Mangala High School and New English High School. He had to drop out of college due to financial constraints and Eknath Shinde started working at a very young age.

Initially, he worked as a supervisor in a fish company at the famous Wagle Estate in Thane. Eventually, he decided to quit his job and become self-reliant and started driving auto-rickshaws in Thane. Eknath Shinde’s life went from bad to worse while working. That person is Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray and Thane Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe.
At the age of 18, Eknath Shinde joined Shiv Sena under the leadership of Anand Dighe and started working for the party. While working for the party, Shinde was supported by Anand Dighe and his faith in him began to grow. Over time, Eknath Shinde came to be known as a close confidante of Anand Dighe. Seeing his loyalty to the party, Eknath Khadse got recognition for his work. In 1984, at the age of 20, Anand Dighe handed over the responsibility to Eknath Shinde. He was given the post of branch chief of Kisan Nagar, Thane. This is where the real political journey of Eknath Shinde began.
Eknath Shinde started doing this work side by side with Anand Dighe. Shinde converted the opportunity given by the party to gold.
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde got married and started his life with Lata Shinde. He had three children. Dipesh, Shubhada and Srikanth. Eventually, a mountain of sorrow fell upon Eknath Shinde. The year 2000 was extremely painful for the Shinde family. An incident that completely broke Eknath Shinde, was when his two sons, Deepesh and Shubhada, lost their lives in an accident. It took Shinde many years to recover from this shock. A mountain of sorrow fell upon the Shinde family. Dighe helped Shinde a lot in getting out of this misery. Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant Shinde is currently a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha and has studied in the medical field.
After recovering from his misery, Eknath Shinde once again became active in politics. After 1984, Anand Dighe gave a Municipal Corporation a ticket to Eknath Shinde. The year was 1997, and he contested the election of a corporation and got elected as a corporation. After this, in 2001 Shinde was appointed as the House Leader of the Municipal Corporation. He became a councilor again in 2002 and within the next two years, he got a ticket from the party. Shiv Sena had to face a crushing defeat in the 2004 elections, but Eknath Shinde won and became a straight MLA. The year 2005 was again important for him. Eknath Shinde became the district president of Shiv Sena in Thane. This was the first time that an MLA was given this post in the party.
Re-elections were held in 2009 and Shinde again became an MLA. Next came 2014. Now the equations of politics had also changed. The 25-year-old alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP came to an end. So both the parties fought that year’s assembly on their own. Shivsena was a little behind. But Shinde retained the fort.
However, this time there was a new opportunity for him. The BJP came to power in the state and Shiv Sena was on the back of the opposition. At that time an important decision was taken by Matoshree. A message was sent to Shiv Sena Bhavan. The party leaflet was released and Eknath Shinde became the Leader of the Opposition. From October 2019 to December 2019, he kept the opposition and the then BJP government in the state like this. But then Shiv Sena’s intentions changed and Shiv Sena came to power directly with BJP.
The state became independent in 2019. BJP was not giving the post of Chief Minister to any Shiv Sena. So the alliance failed again and the country saw a better equation. Shiv Sena came to power in alliance with NCP and Congress. As soon as the post of Chief Minister is decided. Shiv Sena will be the Chief Minister, but who? Two names were leading the race. One is Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai and the other is Eknath Shinde. But Sharad Pawar insisted and eventually, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray himself became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Eknath Shinde resigned from the post of Chief Minister but became a cabinet minister as soon as he came to power. In the swearing-in ceremony of the Thackeray government at Shivaji Park, 7 to 8 leaders took oaths as ministers. Eknath Shinde was also involved in this. He was given the portfolio of Urban Development Minister. Since the formation of the government, there have been many setbacks in Mahavikas Aghadi. Eknath Shinde, one of the party’s loyal leaders at that time, played many important roles in the party. Making repeated allegations on behalf of the BJP, Eknath Shinde stood by the party to stop the horse market. But now Khanda workers loyal to the party and bitter Shiv Sainiks of Balasaheb are angry with the party and party leaders.
