What was the health problem with Aindrila Sharma?
According to media reports, hospital sources said that Aindrila Sharma was brought to the emergency of Narayana Superspeciality Hospital on November 1 afternoon in a state of unconsciousness. She was already suffering from Ewing’s sarcoma and had previously been treated with surgery and chemoradiation.
The actress was immediately put on the life support system. The CT scan report showed massive bleeding inside the left half of the brain of her brain. She was immediately taken to the operation theater and her neurosurgeon performed a critical surgery to remove the brain hemorrhage. A biopsy revealed that she had brain metastasis from Ewing sarcoma.
According to medical experts, metastatic Ewing’s sarcoma is a highly fatal disease with a very poor prognosis. She was seen by a combined team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, critical care specialists, infectious disease specialists, medical oncologists, radiologists, and radiation oncologists.
According to the hospital statement, “However she was still on the ventilator and showing signs of recovery after surgery. 10 days after surgery she developed a massive stroke on the left side of her brain. Later on the right side of her brain, A stroke developed. The probable cause of these strokes appears to be an underlying malignancy. Her level of consciousness dropped and ventilator support had to be increased.”
The statement further said, “Day and night our doctors tried their best to treat her. We also gladly accepted the family’s request for consultation by doctors from other hospitals, so that no stone was left unturned in our efforts to treat her.” “There were episodes of severe and cardiac arrest which were reversed by prompt intervention by our expert doctors.”
Her family also supported the hospital and fully cooperated with the hospital and the treating doctors, read the statement, but, unfortunately, despite their best efforts, she suffered a cardiac arrest today and succumbed to this dreaded disease. The hospital declared her dead at 12:59 pm today.
