British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Kathleen Kerr sentenced by-the-book second-degree murder in Vancouver on September 21. With the sentence already a foregone conclusion on the laws of the Canadian province, the only real wild card was how long it would take for Grantham to plead guilty before the currently 24-year-old could apply for parole.

Prosecutors revealed that he loaded his car with guns, ammunition, and Molotov cocktails before heading east to Ottawa, and ordered instructions from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Rideau Cottage, according to CTV News.
