Today the Thaipusam festival is being celebrated in Murugan temples around the world.

One of the special days for Murugan is Thaipusam. Every year, the day on which the full moon of the month of Tai coincides with the star of Pusa is called Thaipusam. Thaipusad festival is celebrated in Murugan temples on that day.

This year’s Thaipusa festival at Murugan temples began last week with flag hoisting. Thousands of devotees come to visit Lord Murugan with Kavadi, milk jug, and unit hut.

Thaipusa festival also takes place in Vadapalani, Swamimalai, Tiruthani, Palamudhircholai, Marudamalai, Vayalur, Ettukkudi Murugan temples in Chennai. Thaipusad festival is also celebrated in foreign countries where Tamils live a lot. In countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, Murugan temples conduct special pujas for the Thaipusa festival.

Jyoti Darshan was organized in front of Thaipusam at Vadlur in the Cuddalore district. Jyoti Darshan will be done at 6 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 7 pm, 10 pm, and the next morning at 5.30 am by removing seven curtains.
