Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4th December to showcase the capabilities of the naval force in a grand manner.

Background


The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces and is headed by the President of India as the Commander-in-Chief. The Maratha emperor, Shivaji is considered the “Father of the Indian Navy”.

The Indian Navy has an important role in securing the country’s maritime borders as well as enhancing India’s international relations through port visits, joint exercises, humanitarian disaster relief, etc. The modern Indian Navy is undergoing rapid modernization to improve its position in the Indian Ocean region. The strength of the Indian Navy includes over 67,000 personnel and approximately 150 ships and submarines.

Let us tell you that this day is celebrated in memory of “Operation Trident” run by the Indian Navy during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, in which the Indian Navy attacked the port of Karachi in Pakistan, and broke the back of Pakistan.

Navy Day is an occasion to celebrate the great achievements of the Navy and pay tribute to the heroes of the Navy.

The week preceding Navy Day is marked by several important events such as photo exhibitions, blood donation camps, and the opening of warships to visitors.

For the first time in history, this year the Indian Navy Day celebrations will be held outside the capital Delhi.

Showcasing the power of the Indian Navy


Ships, submarines, and special forces from the Eastern, Western, and Southern Naval Commands will display naval might at Visakhapatnam today to showcase the military prowess of the Indian Navy to the world.

The event will end with a sunset ceremony and the lighting of ships in the harbor.

President Draupadi Murmu will be present as the chief guest and special guest at the event organized by Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar. Apart from this, dignitaries from the Central and State Governments will also attend the function.



This year’s celebrations specifically mark India’s 75 years of independence.

According to the Government of India “This year, as India celebrates 75 years of its independence, this year marks the beginning of the Independence ‘Amrit Kaal’, the Indian Navy will showcase India’s war efforts through an ‘Operational Demonstration’.   • The theme for 2020 was “Indian Navy Combat Ready, Credible and Cohesive”.
  • The theme for 2019 was “Indian Navy – Silent, Strong, and Swift”.
  • The theme for 2018 was “Indian Navy, mission-deployed and combat-ready”.
  • The theme for 2015 was “Indian Navy – Ensuring Safe Seas for a Resurgent Nation”.
  • The theme for 2014 was “Indian Navy – Ensuring Safe Seas for a Resurgent Nation”.
  • The theme for 2012 was “Indian Navy – Sea Power for National Prosperity”.
  • The theme for 2008 was “Reaching Out to Maritime Neighbors”.


In this sequence, Indian Navy Day was celebrated in the year 2015 under the motto “For a resurgent nation ensuring a secure sea” Indian Navy Day 2022. Similarly, in the year 2019, Indian Navy Day was celebrated with great fanfare under the theme “Safe Seas and Safe Coast for a Strong Nation”.

And the Indian Navy Day in the year 2020 was as per the theme. “Indian Navy a battle-ready, reliable and well-organized force” similarly plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the year 2021 with the theme “Swarnim Vijay Varsh”.

Indian Navy Vizag 2022 schedule


As we all know that His Excellency the President is also known as the Supreme Commander of the three Services of India. Here let us tell you that according to the Indian Navy Vizag 2022 schedule, the motto of the Indian Navy is “The God of water is auspicious for us”.

Apart from this, let us also tell you that it was the responsibility of the Indian Navy to liberate Goa from Portugal in 1961 by the Indian Navy.
