Indonesia: Fire breaks out at Islamic Center's Grand Mosque in Jakarta, dome collapses

 On Wednesday, the dome of the largest mosque in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta collapsed due to a massive fire.

 According to the news published in the Jakarta media, the incident took place at Jami Masjid in North Jakarta at around 3 pm local time on Wednesday.  Repair work was going on in the mosque.

 According to the news of Jakarta Globe, this mosque is built on the premises of Jakarta Islamic Center, a think tank associated with Islamic Studies and Development.

 In the video of this incident being shared on social media, a plume of smoke is seen all around as soon as the dome falls.  10 fire tenders had reached the spot to douse the fire.

 According to the news of Indonesia News Net, about 20 years ago in October 2002, there was a fire during the repair of this mosque.  It took five hours to douse the fire at that time. According to the police, no one was hurt in this accident.

 The cause of the accident is being ascertained and the police have said that four workers of the contractor company who are repairing the mosque will be questioned.
