Her father is actor and producer Anil Kapoor, son of late filmmaker Surinder Kapoor, and founder of Anil Kapoor Films Company. Her mother, Sunita, is a former model and designer. Sonam has two younger siblings, filmmaker Rhea and brother Harshvardhan.
